Yonhon Kumite Set 2
This is a series of four attacks and four open hand blocks; high, middle, low, and the fourth attack and block changes for each excercise. After the fourth block the defender counters; the counter changes for each exercise.
Starting from a ready stance the attacker steps in to a right cat stance; the defender steps back with the left leg into a right cat stance. The attacker steps with a left lunge punch to the face, then a right lunge punch to the chest, then a left lunge punch to the lower body, the fourth attack is described below. To counter, the defender steps back with the right leg into a left cat stance and executes a left high open hand block, then steps back with the left leg into a right cat stance and executes a right open hand middle block, then steps back with the right leg into a cat left stance and executes a left low open hand outside block, then steps back with the left leg into a right cat stance to execute the fourth defense; the fourth defense and counter is described below.
1. Attack: Lunge punch to the face.
Defense: Open hand high block.
Counter: Grab and side thrust kick to the arm pit while pulling in.2. Attack: Lunge punch to the chest.
Defense: Open hand side block.
Counter: Grab and front snap kick to the ribs.3. Attack: Lunge punch to the navel.
Defense: Open down block.
Counter: Grab and stomp kick to the knee.4. Attack: Lunge punch to the face.
Defense: Open hand high block.
Counter: Upward palm-heel block; slide forward into a front stance; grab wrist with chamber hand and execute a forward elbow strike to the arm pit (elbow strike is executed with the same arm that executed the block).5. Attack: Lunge punch to the chest.
Defense: Open hand side block.
Counter: Grab wrist with blocking hand; step forward and switch hands grabbing wrist with chamber hand; execute a forward elbow strike to the ribs; bring in other hand so that both hands are holding the attacker’s arm; pivot in to your right and twist arm behind the attacker (arm whip).6. Attack: Lunge punch to the navel.
Defense: Open down block.
Counter: Slide forward and grab wrist with chamber hand, slide blocking hand to the inside of the attacker’s leg (knee) trapping the attacker’s arm. Drop down and back putting pressure against the arm and taking the attacker with you to the ground; back fist to the head..
