Driving: Convenience or… ?

There are things in life that have the characteristic of both being both a benefit and a detriment. For me driving is one of these. For the first 28 years of my life I didn’t have a driver’s license. I walked or rode a bike everywhere or took a bus when I needed to travel longer distances. I was pretty fit in those days – burning as many calories as I consumed. And then I got a license. For a few years it was ok. My wife (girlfriend at that time) had a car and would let me use it some. But the some became more as I decreased my walking/biking and began driving more.

A beginning

I have been thinking about this for a while. I will write some of my more personal thoughts over the next few months. Some of the things I contemplate are very negative and some are very positive and some are just my thoughts. Never one to be controversial I tend not to say things that may cause discomfort to others or that I may feel intensly about. But reading other blogs have inspired me to attempt to write some things down. There are several topics that will emerge. Some I have a clear picture of. Others will emerge as I write. Enjoy if you care to, criticize if you must. And please comment! But understand… these are my thoughts and feelings. I don’t claim to represent anyone else except me.

Winning the war while losing every battle

I have been trying for quite some time to lose weight. My pattern is predictable: lose a little, gain a little; lose a lot, gain a lot. Over and over and over again. It is easy (at least for me) to lose perspective on something like weight loss. It sometimes seems so futile. Afterall, we have to eat, don’t we???

Inspiration

Well. Two of my favorite bloggers Rori and Cherryl recently left comments. How exciting! I have been recently lamenting that I have this blog that took many, many hours to design and a lot of effort to write with no visitors – except of course the constant stream of comment spam which is effectively handled by Spam Karma 2. Thanks! I think I’ll write more and and will write more often.
