I received an email at work yesterday phishing for a credit card number and identity information. Aside from the fact that I NEVER give my work email address to any of my financial institutions this stupid scammer told me I needed to “sing-up” for their service. Sing-up?? So what do I do, go into a store and sing whenever I use my credit card?? What song is it that will protect me?
Dear mr. scammer: Please do me a favor, if you are going to try to scam me at least get the language right.
The Scam:
From address: “Visa.” (staff @visa.com) (a clear givaway of a scam)
The company being exploited: Visa International
Image links in email message point to: geocities.com/didibao
The hook: Purports to offer a new service because of recent identity thefts (that’s a good one!).
Mail server used: mail.kcl.net (some ISP)
What happens: When you click on the link you are taken to a page that looks like an official Visa page. They even have links back to Visa’s official graphics. The page not only asks for credit card information but name, address, drivers license, and other contact information. When you click on submit an email gets sent to a Yahoo address.

Moved the menu to the header. Been meaning to do that for a long time. I think I’m almost done with this theme. I bumped the rev. to 0.75. Soon it will be a 1.0 theme! I’m still not happy with all of the headers – I continue to look for appropriate photos for this theme. I want to have 10 different headers but it is difficult getting there since I want to use all original photos. But I have the time. No hurry at all.

Gallery 2 integration has been added to my site. The group working on this integration has done an excellent job. It isn’t beta yet but it does work well. I had some initial trouble but they were very helpful in the WPG2 forums. Still a few issues to work out but for the most part it works well. Just click on the Gallery menu above to see it in action.

So far I have had a very good experience with hp support. My PSC 2355 suddenly stopped scanning. It is still under warranty so I called tech support. The person I tallked was very nice and had me go through the normal list of things to check. Within 15 minutes she determined that I needed a replacement part. I received it via overnight FedEx. That didn’t work. Someone called that evening and asked me how the printer was working. I told her that the replacement part did not work and she said ok, we’ll ship a new unit. 5 minutes later I had an order number and the new unit was on the way. This was overall a very good experience. hp support rocks!

I am really pleased that my ISP has finally updated the apps available to me. They used to offer b2 as their blogging software. Now they are offering WordPress!!! I am so happy with this. They also updated to Gallery 1.5 which I’m eager to install and begin using.
